It is my belief that most people who come to counseling have the solutions to their most troubling issues right inside themselves. As a counselor, I see it as my job to help clients recognize, not only this truth, but also how to get to the solution. It is a great joy to be able to work side-by-side with them to accomplish this.
I have been married to Maria since 1995. We have three amazing children. Sophia, Manny, and Carston. I have been a counselor since 2016. My first career was a student pastor, and I did that for 25 years. I became a Licensed Clinincal Professional Counselor (LCPC) in 2021. I love my work with adolescents and their families on issues related to behaviors and executive function deficits. I have also been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting (BSP). I have seen great benefits from using these neuro-somatic therapies to help clients as they work through difficult experiences from their lives.
My goal is to provide a safe and acceptable place for my clients to do work on the things they desire to work on in their lives. I understand counseling can feel scary, so I work hard to put my clients at ease and feel comfortable and safe as they meet with me. I would love it if there were no more clients to treat, but that would mean no one has more work to do on themselves. Until that day, we work.
I work at Buehler Wellness as the Assistant Practice Manager. I am currently in school for Social Work and plan to work in this field with adolescents! I am going to school full time for my Bachelors at SIU. I really enjoy traveling, and you will more than likely see me out and about on beautiful days! I have a huge love for community. I am so grateful for the opportunities here at Buehler Wellness and being able to witness for myself, as well as others, the satisfaction that comes from these services.
I work at Buehler Wellness as a NeurOptimal® Specialist. I am married to Paul, and we have 3 beautiful children- Adilynn, Paisley, and Finley. I graduated with my Associates of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2015. Immediately following graduation I started working at SIH and floating around between their inpatient, outpatient and acute rehab facilities. Shortly after, I was certified in Early Intervention and began going into homes and daycares working with children age birth-3. Early Intervention was very rewarding and enjoyable but after finding out I was pregnant with my third child, I decided to stay home full time to focus on being the best wife, mother and homemaker that I can be! I really enjoy working at BWC now! Seeing clients progress and have less unwanted symptoms is amazing to me. I love being able to support people on their journey of life and witness how much NeurOptimal® is helping them.
I work at Buehler Wellness as a NeurOptimal® Specialist and as a Certified Gua Sua Facial Massage Practitioner. I am happily married to my husband Mike of 34 years. Mike is a retired police officer. We have two sons, two daughter-in-laws, and three grandchildren. I love to be out in nature going hiking, fishing, planting flowers, and anything outdoors. I have been a stay at home mom, kindergarten aide and preschool teacher, and worked at other jobs prior to coming to Buehler Wellness Center. I discovered a love for facial massage, first by learning it for my self care and then performing facials on family and friends. I found that it brought benefits to me and others not only in the physical sense, but also helped ease emotional stress. I then decided to become certified in Gua sua and have continued to add techniques to improve the experience. Working here provides me a great opportunity to help and care for people, which is something that I am passionate about. I also see my position as a ministry in helping people throughout our communities.
I am a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As a professional artist, most of my days are filled with exhibiting and painting. But I love volunteering, and am very active in my church as well. After discovering the Beuhler Wellness Center and having personally experienced the difference the red light therapy has made for me, I’m thrilled to be part of this wonderful group of people committed to promoting and helping to initiate personal health and wellness to the people in the Southern Illinois area.
